The ION MAN is a combination of different disciplines related to windsurfing. Of course there is some fun stuff to do as well.

One of the riders wrote a story about his trip to Lake Garda:


The first competition day of the ION Man was reigned by uncertain conditions. Though there was some serious competition, including a Freestyle super Session with ION international team riders Golltio Estredo and Andre Paskowski and the other riders from the competing Teams.
Of course, it was Gollito, who dominated the Super Session throwing out awesome tricks every time he came in at full speed. The fun part was there as well. Light wind SUP Freestyle together with climbing made the part. Gollito showed that he can be creative with a 3m stand up paddle board as well. So first place for him as well. Everyone was stoked, since it looked like a no wind day but turned into a classic unexpected session.

The second day of the ION MAN had a little lack of good winds. It seemed well on the way at first but then the clouds took over from the sun and it went bad. A lot of teams set out to get a good shot for the best picture competition. A few had to finalize their plans for tonight’s night performance in Torbole, Italy.
The only discipline this day was swimming. Afterwards all the brave swimmers had a face as if they windsurfed fully powered for at least two hours. Gollito managed to bring the great swimming from his other team mates to a good ending. He secured first place for team Fanatic. ION international team rider Andre Paskowski had a good start with his team, but one team mate started too strong and had a little break down at the turning point.
Afterwards everyone moved to the surf club in Torbole to see the ION MAN Best Pic Award and the sneak preview of Andre Paskowski’s 4 Dimensions windsurfing movie. There was a wide approach towards the best pic award. Several teams used their computers to create made up pictures, whereas others just went around, looking for a nice spot to shoot at.
An Italian team took a picture of a guy climbing a 20m vertical wall with a sail on his back – secured with a rope of course.
In the end it was team Windinfo, who had the best idea according to the other teams judging them.
The great final of the ION Man – the famous night performance – took place at the Moby Dick bar. Each team had around 10 minutes to perform a play or something they made up, but it had to be related to carnival in some way.
That was the time where creativity took over. Each team performed extreme in their unique way. North Sails brought a nice girl on the hood of a Jaguar together with two dressed up team mates.
Team Fanatic had some 70s style Party setup with high heels and metallic style dresses.
After a few more beers and the other night performances, the price giving took place.
3rd Place went to Andre Paskowski with Team North Sails, Team Funboard Italia bagged 2nd place.
The only team not announced so far started to jump around and got a 1200€ ION Product voucher.
They stood by as Gollito Estredo raised the trophy for once more bagging the 2009 ION MAN title.
Team Fanatic showed consistent podium places in all disciplines. Thanks to Gollito they won all the freestyle related disciplines.
