Olivier Dansin wins "King Cup Regatta" in thailand
Olivier Dansin wins King Cup Regatta, in Phuket, Thailand
For the 25th anniversary of one of the biggest sailing competitions in the world, 30 kitesurfers from around the world have been invited to join this major event. Olivier Dansin and Blazej Ozog were representing NKB at the event that took place in Kata beach in Phuket between 2nd and 10th of December.
The first days of competition did not allow kitesurf to compete because of the extremely light off shore conditions. The third day, 2 races have been done in a very gusty off shore wind (5/20 knots). Our rider Olivier Dansin won those two races with an impressive advance, Blazej Ozog however injured his ankle during the first race.
On saturday consistent 20 knots (off-shore as usual) gave the riders a hard time as there was no wind at all on the beach, which made it extremely hard to get on the water. Due to some difficulties with launching his kite, Blazej Ozog did not reach the start line.
After winning the 2 first races of the day, missing out on the third one, Olivier Dansin took home the trophy of the first edition of the King Cup Regatta of Kitesurfing in Thailand.
The highlight of the day, was the closure ceremony with the Kind of Thailand who personally handed over the first place trophy to Olivier.
Congrats from ION !
